About The Course
Level 3
This e-learning series explores the thematic area of Working Creatively with Children Using Dramatic Play, divided into three progressive levels:
- Level 1: Focuses on children aged 3–4 years
- Level 2: Focuses on children aged 5–8 years
- Level 3: Focuses on children aged 9–11 years
This Level 3 e-course is suitable for early years practitioners, teachers, classroom support staff, foster care professionals, therapists, counsellors, social workers, caregivers, and other professionals who work with children. It is also ideal for parents, guardians, and caregivers who engage closely with children in this age group.
Course Objectives
This e-course explores the role of dramatic play in the development of children aged 9–11 years. Dramatic play continues to play a vital role in physical, social, and cognitive development during middle childhood. In this Level 3 course, learners will examine how dramatic play evolves at this stage and discover practical ways to encourage and support it.
Topics include the nature of dramatic play in older children, creative play ideas tailored to this age group, and strategies for fostering imaginative play both at home and in educational settings.
Aims and Objectives
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explore dramatic play among children aged 9–11
- Understand the benefits of dramatic play and its role in child development
- Create supportive environments for dramatic play
- Learn how to encourage and facilitate dramatic play in this age group
Expected Learning Outcomes
Learners will:
- Understand how children in middle childhood engage with dramatic play
- Explore creative dramatic play ideas for children aged 9–11
- Learn how to support and guide children in imaginative and collaborative play
- Recognise the developmental value of dramatic play in emotional, social, and cognitive growth
Upon successful completion, learners will have in-depth knowledge of dramatic play and how to promote it among children aged 9–11 years. A certificate of completion will be available to learners who pass the course assessment with a score of at least 70%.
