About The Course

Level 2

This series of e-learning courses explore the thematic areas of children’s physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. The courses are structured across three progressive levels:

  • Level 1: Focuses on children aged 3–4 years
  • Level 2: Focuses on children aged 5–8 years
  • Level 3: Focuses on children aged 9–11 years

This Level 2online course is suitable for parents, guardians; early years practitioners; teachers; classroom support staff; foster care support staff; therapists; counsellors; social workers, other caregivers and professionals who support or work with children. It is also suitable to any other adult, who is interested in learning more about children.


Course Objective

The objective of this e-course is to introduce you to the concept of child development, with a specific focus on the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional growth of school-age children aged 5–8 years.

You will also explore practical strategies that can be used to support the child’s development in a range of areas.


Aims and Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of child development.
  • Identify key developmental stages among children aged 5–8 years.
  • Learn how to give appropriate support, for this age group.

Expected Learning Outcomes

You will:

  • Recognize the stages of child development in children aged 5-8 years old.
  • Understand how to support 5–8-year-olds during their formative years.
  • Deeper awareness of the roles of parents, guardians, educators, and other professionals.
  • Explore various approaches to nurturing development in this age group.

Upon successful completion, you will have gained an in-depth knowledge of Understanding Children’s Physical, Cognitive, and Socio-Emotional Development Among (5 – 8 years old). A certificate of completion will be available to you,upon successfully passing  thisecourse assessment, and with a score of at least 70%.
