About The Course

Level 1

This e-learning series explores the thematic area of Working Creatively with Children Using Dramatic Play. The courses are structured across three progressive levels:

  • Level 1: Focuses on children aged 3–4 years
  • Level 2: Focuses on children aged 5–8 years
  • Level 3: Focuses on children aged 9–11 years

This Level 1 e-course is suitable for early years practitioners, teachers, classroom support staff, foster care professionals, therapists, counsellors, social workers, caregivers, and other professionals who work with children. It is also ideal for parents, guardians, and caregivers who engage closely with young children.


Course Objectives

This course introduces learners to the concept of dramatic play and its vital role in early childhood development. Dramatic play significantly contributes to a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Learners will explore what dramatic play is, why it matters, and how parents, caregivers, and professionals can use it effectively with young children.

The course covers various types of dramatic play and highlights its developmental benefits. Learners will discover how to encourage play among toddlers and preschoolers, explore creative dramatic play ideas tailored for children aged 3–4, and learn how to support and guide children in engaging meaningfully with pretend play.


Aims and Objectives

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Appreciate the role of dramatic play in developing emotional, language, and social skills
  • Learn how to set up a dramatic play area for children aged 3–4
  • Explore practical dramatic play ideas and understand what typically occurs during play

Upon successful completion, learners will have a solid understanding of dramatic play and how to foster it among children aged 3–4 years. A certificate of completion will be available to learners who pass the course assessment with a score of at least 70%.
