About The Course
Level 1
This e-learning series explores the thematic area of Working Practically with Neurodiverse Children (3–11 yrs) Level 1. The courses are structured across three progressive levels:
- Level 1: Focuses on children aged 3–11 years
- Level 2: Focuses on children aged 12–17 years
- Level 3: Focuses on youth and adults aged 18 years and above
This Level 1 e-learning course is suitable for parents and guardians, early years practitioners; teachers; classroom support staff; foster care support staff; therapists; counsellors; social workers,other caregivers and other professionals who support or work with children. It is also suitable to any other adult, who is interested in learning more about children who are or may be neurodiverse.
Course Objectives
This e-course introduces you to the concept of neurodiversity and its significance in early childhood development. Neurodiversity refers to the natural variations in how individuals think, learn, behave, and interact with their environment. You will explore what is neurodiversity, why it matters, and you can support neurodivergent children, between the ages of 3–11 year olds.
Thisecourse also covers common neurodivergent conditions, explores inclusive and creative approaches to engagement, and highlights practical strategies for supporting children in multiple settings.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand what is neurodiversity and identify common neurodivergent conditions.
- Explore societal perceptions and attitudes toward neurodiversity.
- Discover creative and inclusive methods for working practically with neurodiverse children (3–11 yrs) Level 1.
- Learn how to support neurodivergent children aged 3–11.
Expected Learning Outcomes
You will:
- Understand what neurodiversity is and the various conditions it encompasses.
- Recognise how to support and guide 3–11-year-olds in everyday environments.
- Appreciate the role of creativity and inclusion in working with neurodivergent children.
- Learn how to set up supportive environments and activities tailored to neurodiverse needs.
- Explore practical strategies for fostering emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Upon successful completion, you will have a solid understanding of neurodiversity, and how to support neurodivergent children aged 3–11 years. A certificate of completion will be available to download, whenyou have successfully passed this online course assessment, with a score of at least 70%.
