About The Course
Level 1
This e-learning series explores the thematic area of Working Creatively with Neurodiverse Children. The courses are structured across three progressive levels:
- Level 1: Focuses on children aged 3–11 years
- Level 2: Focuses on children aged 12–17 years
- Level 3: Focuses on youth and adults aged 18 years and above
This Level 1 e-course is suitable for early years practitioners, teachers, classroom support staff, foster care professionals, therapists, counsellors, social workers, caregivers, and other professionals who work with neurodiverse children. It is also ideal for parents, guardians, and caregivers who engage closely with neurodivergent children in early and middle childhood.
Course Objectives
This e-course introduces learners to the concept of neurodiversity and its significance in early childhood development. Neurodiversity refers to the natural variations in how individuals think, learn, behave, and interact with their environment. Learners will explore what neurodiversity is, why it matters, and how parents, caregivers, and professionals can support neurodivergent children aged 3–11 years.
The course covers common neurodivergent conditions, explores inclusive and creative approaches to engagement, and highlights practical strategies for supporting children in home, school, and community settings.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the concept of neurodiversity and identify common neurodivergent conditions
- Explore societal perceptions and attitudes toward neurodiversity
- Discover creative and inclusive methods for working with neurodivergent children
- Learn how parents, caregivers, and professionals can support neurodivergent children aged 3–11
Expected Learning Outcomes
Learners will:
- Understand what neurodiversity is and the various conditions it encompasses
- Recognise how to support and guide 3–11-year-olds in everyday environments
- Appreciate the role of creativity and inclusion in working with neurodivergent children
- Learn how to set up supportive environments and activities tailored to neurodiverse needs
- Explore practical strategies for fostering emotional, social, and cognitive development
Upon successful completion, learners will have a solid understanding of neurodiversity and how to support neurodivergent children aged 3–11 years. A certificate of completion will be available to learners who pass the course assessment with a score of at least 70%.
