LEVEL 1
These series of courses under the thematic areas of Understanding Children’s Physical, Cognitive, and Socio-emotional Development are divided into three different levels. Level-1 focuses on children aged 3 – 4 years, Level-2 focuses on children aged 5 – 8 years and Level-3 focuses on children aged 9 – 11 years.
This CPD-certified, level-1 e-learning course is suitable for early years practitioners, teachers, classroom support staff, foster care support staff, therapists, counsellors, social workers, caregivers and any other professional persons who work around children. It is also suitable to anyone who is interested in learning more about children including non-professionals such as parents and guardians.
OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE
The objective of this course is to introduce learners to the concept of child development, the different areas of child development and specifically physical, cognitive and socio-emotional development that occurs among 3 – 4 years old. In addition, the learner will learn what caregivers can do to support children of this age in their physical, cognitive and socio-emotional development.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of this course are to:
- Introduce the learner to the concept of child development
- Develop sound knowledge of the various areas of child development including physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional and development.
- Understand the stages of child development among children aged 3 – 4 years
- Learn what caregivers can do to support children of this age in their physical, cognitive and socio-emotional development

- Recognise how to support 3 – 4-year-old children in their early developmental years
- Understand the role of parents, guardians, practitioners, teachers and others who interact with children in the early year settings
- Comprehend the different approaches of supporting children of this age group
Upon completion of the course, the learn will have in depth knowledge of the different areas of child development among children aged 3 – 4 years. The learner will also able to download a certificate upon completion.
